Shoes are okay for short hikes. Definitely need something a lot more firm on top of the foot for longer walks. The rubber band doesn’t fix the shoe really well. I took those mainly because they are only one pair of waterproof barefoot shoes I could find, to wear them during the rain. The moisture from raindrops still goes through though not as much as with regular shoes.
